Rihanna had a scary afternoon on March 8. Police say multiple gunshots were fired at the singer’s home in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday afternoon while the singer was reportedly inside.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at her residence in Beverly Hills, California, around 1:20 p.m. PT, according to local reports. Investigators say a 30-year-old woman allegedly fired multiple shots, reportedly between seven and 10 rounds, toward the property from a vehicle parked across the street.
At least one bullet struck the house and penetrated a wall.
No injuries were reported, and authorities already have a suspect in custody, though police have not yet released the woman’s name. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
This brazen act is shocking, but not the first time the “Umbrella” singer has been targeted.
In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon was arrested after breaking into Rihanna’s Hollywood Hills residence in California. Prosecutors said Leon scaled a fence and entered the home, where he allegedly remained for roughly 12 hours before being discovered by the singer’s assistant. Rihanna was not home at the time. He was later charged with stalking and burglary.
That same Hollywood Hills property was hit again later that year when police responded to a burglary incident involving shattered glass doors.
In 2013, a man was arrested outside Rihanna’s Hollywood home after refusing to leave the property. Discovered sleeping in her driveway, he was taken into custody for trespassing and stalking.
Celebrity home invasions and stalking incidents have become increasingly common in Los Angeles, and it’s a scary notion. Celebrities are being targeted at their homes, places that we all like to consider safe and secure. Along with the increase in break-ins and stalking incidents, this latest security breach that put lives at a deadly risk justifies celebrities’ need for private security at the highest level.
It’s an uncomfortable reminder that even one of the world’s most famous and protected entertainers is not immune to gun violence.
And even more disturbing is that it was at her doorstep.
