Debbi Morgan Brings Holiday Mischief to ‘Beauty in Black’

If there’s one person who topped Santa’s naughty list this year, it’s Olivia Bellarie on Tyler Perry’s Beauty In Black. Over the past two seasons, Mother Deadliest has done unthinkable: forcing a man into his death bag, enabling a trafficking ring, tricking a woman into slapping her, and then calling it elder abuse, just to name a few. And the devilish diva delivers practically every line with a profanity trail that would make Eddie Murphy blush.

Veteran actress Debbi Morgan is having the time of her life playing the Bellarie matriarch who doesn’t give a f—. But she still has words for Olivia on how she could have made the “nice list” this Christmas. “For me, it’s all about treating everyone you meet with the kindness and love that you would want somebody to treat you with in return,” Morgan expressed. “I’m naturally like that. I get that from my mother.”

Listing out Olivia’s most shocking moments that are clocked in TikTok real time, Morgan teased, “You know, some people, they just fly off the handle. They don’t have kind words to say about people.”

That’s the understatement of the year.

For the actress off-screen, it’s about balance. She counters her Beauty In Black ruthlessness by starring in a whole slate of holiday films. Her latest Christmas Everyday, starring Brandy and Brandy’s real-life daughter, Syra, is airing on Lifetime this holiday season.

“I’ve done so many Christmas movies,” Morgan exclaimed. “In Merry Liddle Christmas, I played Kelly Rowland‘s mother, and we had three different spinoffs.”

The actress is not stopping anytime soon. “These movies are so heartwarming and touching and filmed so the whole family can look at them together, I love that,” she shared.

While watching holiday films is a tradition she cherishes, she and hers have abandoned a few others. “My husband and I do not give each other Christmas gifts. We stopped with that,” she revealed. “But I love all the lights. I always decorate the outside of my house. It’s so beautiful. And I decorate the inside, too, and curl up in front of the fireplace and love every minute of it.”

That’s because the season tends to bring out our better side. “We’ve been in such a downer this year. But I think everybody looks forward to the holidays because people tend not to be as upset with each other,” Morgan theorized. “Everybody seems to be in such a good mood.”

Maybe Olivia will even spread a little good cheer—and leave the body bags untouched.

Beauty in Black, season two, part two, returns March 19, 2026, on Netflix.
