‘All’s Fair’ Star Teyana Taylor Just Joined a Prestigious Hollywood Institution, and She’s Ready for More

Teyana Taylor has earned her spot at a prestigious Hollywood institution, thanks to her directorial debut, the upcoming feature film Get Lite.

“I’m a member of the DGA!” she exclaimed to EBONY on the All’s Fair season two carpet, held in New York City on November 2.

“With this movie that I just did, I’m officially in the DGA (Directors Guild of America). So I can direct anything, and I’m so excited about it,” she declared.

And she’s ready to take that to a season three of her series, if the chance arises. “Hell yeah, I would absolutely direct a whole season of All’s Fair if they let me.”

Get Lite, a coming-of-age musical drama following a talented but sheltered dance student who finds inspiration, love, and community through Harlem’s Litefeet street dance culture, boasts an impressive cast, including Storm Reid, Ceyair Wright, Leslie Odom Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Woody McClain, Jodie Turner-Smith, Asante Blackk, and Nia Long.

As Taylor expands her world to tell stories from behind the camera, Niecy Nash-Betts is celebrating the importance of the stories being told on screen.

When EBONY mentioned to the series co-star how her on-screen sons—played by Jemarcus Kilgore, Joshua Suiter, and Armani Barrett—had just described how awesome she is on and off-screen, the actress quipped, “They’re right,” before speaking about the importance of showing young, gifted and Black men on screen.

“People want to see themselves. And there are all types of children in the world. Mine happen to be educated, they happen to be privileged, but at the core, because you see how we move with each other, they’re kind,” Nash stated.

“As my mama would say, they don’t teach kindness in school. They got that from me. I love showing that relationship. I get a lot of love online for my relationship with my boys.”

Plenty of love and camaraderie filled the carpet from the rest of the series’ star-studded cast, including Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, cast newcomer Denise Richards, and Kim Kardashian, who shared her family’s upcoming holiday plans.

“I have a Christmas Eve party every year with just the family, and it’s the best thing in the entire world,” Kardashian shared with EBONY.

What a way to ring in the holiday season.

All’s Fair Season 2 premieres November 4 on Hulu.
