Jalen Hurts’ latest health update says the 28-year-old quarterback will miss the rest of the season. “Over the last few days, Jalen Hurts has received comprehensive medical evaluations by physician experts,” read a joint statement from the Philadelphia Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn. “In the interest of transparency, we are providing additional information on the diagnosis and treatment plan related to his condition.”
Hurts is facing an extended absence after additional testing revealed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs. Philadelphia said its quarterback is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations, and is expected to fully recover.
“Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis,” the statement said. “After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary embolism. He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations. His treatment should only involve anticoagulation (I.E., “Blood Thinners”).

According to Mayo Clinic, Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in one or more deep veins, usually in the legs. DVT can cause leg pain or swelling. Sometimes there are no noticeable symptoms.
“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” the statement read. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.
Jalen Hurts’ situation highlights the importance of prioritizing health, especially for professional athletes who often feel pressure to perform despite injuries. While the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary embolism is serious, the optimism surrounding his prognosis is reassuring. His leadership will be invaluable as teammates navigate the season’s challenges without him. It’s a reminder that while competitive spirit in sports is essential, player safety and wellness must come first.
With a robust treatment plan in place, the Eagles and Hurts will likely emerge from this challenging phase stronger, ready to reclaim their competitive edge in the league. His journey will serve as an inspiring story of resilience and determination.
