Many celebrity couples announced their engagements in 2025, including the latest, listed below. We’re looking back at some of our favorite about-to-be-wed announcements from the past 12 months, which just goes to show that Black love reigns always.
Mariah the Scientist and Young Thug

Talk about a grand proposal! On December 16, Young Thug took the stage at his Hometown Hero: Young Thug & Friends – A Benefit Concert, not just to perform, but to ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. During Mariah’s set at the concert, which will benefit the city’s local charities, Young Thug — whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams — took to the stage with a small square box containing a large, shiny ring.
Getting down on one knee, he asked her, “Will you marry me?” Through her tears of joy, Mariah — whose full name is Mariah Amani Buckles — said “Yes,” extended her hand and exclaimed, “Put it on!” The couple have dated on and off since they first met in 2021. She supported the rapper while he was incarcerated for two years, stemming from a RICO charge. The two seemed to call it quits in October 2025 after candid phone records detailing his relationship with Mariah were obtained from his jail stint. But with this rock in place, it seems the two have found their way back to one another.
Jessica White and Nathan Wong

Jessica White came exclusively to EBONY to announce her engagement to Nathan Wong in October. The stunning model, known for her runway work with Victoria’s Secret and campaigns for Maybelline and CoverGirl, shared the first look at their beachside impromptu engagement photos. The series of breathtaking shots beautifully encapsulates their romance. “[Their love story] was a literal whirlwind romance, five dates over a month period, then I heard he wanted me to find him a ring to propose with,” a source close to the couple told EBONY.
Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers
Actors Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers announced their engagement on October 5 in a joint Instagram post captioned, “Engaged to the love of my life.” The couple first met in 2015 and began dating in 2017. While they briefly parted ways in 2022, they found their way back to one another in late 2024, just as Destiny’s film, The Fire Inside, arrived in theaters. Obviously, there has been fire blazing between them for the past several months, which is leading them to say “I do” in the near future.

EBONY Power 100 alumna Coco Jones is off the market. She took to Instagram in July to announce her engagement to longtime partner, Cleveland Cavaliers player Donovan Mitchell. It was late summer 2024 when Mitchell and Jones were spotted sitting together at a USHER concert, which got the timeline chatter started immediately about their pairing.
Jones and Mitchell have kept an extremely low profile about their relationship, but Jones shared that she continues to use music as her outlet to talk about her personal life. “I’m happy and I will say, my music is my outlet where I tell my stories and my truth,” Jones said on Club Shay Shay in March. “Some things I keep for myself because this is my life, too. I say some things, and you can hear it on my album.” Jones is set to perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show in February 2026.
Venus Williams and Andrea Preti

Venus Williams let the world know she was engaged to actor-producer Andrea Preti after winning the women’s singles match at the Mubadala Citi DC Open on July 22. Low-key announcing her betrothed in a post-match interview, she said, “My fiancé is here, and he really encouraged me to keep playing.” But now we know the real deal: the two have been engaged since the beginning of 2025, which means an anniversary is impending.

Jussie Smollett is back in the spotlight, thanks to new music and an engagement announcement. The Empire alum got engaged to fellow actor Jabari Redd in June 2025. Smollett shared their engagement photos, which showed that he proposed to his love on a rooftop.

Back on March 13, NFL player DK Metcalf held a sports press conference that felt just right as he let the world know he was making it official with singer Normani while fielding questions about his trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Hold that rock up, baby,” he exclaimed, to which she gleefully obliged. Normani must have had Ciara’s prayer for a husband on speed dial. Not only were they introduced by the #relationshipgoals couple in 2020, but the “Love Lies” singer said her fiancé has “definitely answered a prayer.”
Jilly Anais and Deshaun Watson
The singer/athlete pairing continues. Jilly Anais, best known for her song “I Must Really Love You,” really loves Deshaun Watson. She said yes to the Cleveland Browns quarterback in March when he proposed on a beach with family in attendance for the happy news. The two made a joint announcement of their impending nuptials on Instagram. They then posed with photographer Tony Bowen for an undeniably gorgeous set of engagement photos.
Winnie Harlow and Kyle Kuzma
Announcing she said “yes” at 10,000 ft.? That’s how Winnie Harlow and her fiancé, Kyle Kuzma, roll. On February 18, the supermodel dropped photos of her mid-flight engagement on her Instagram. She and the Milwaukee Bucks small forward shared several images to share their exciting news with the world.
Kuzma had chartered a private plane to whisk them away to a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway in the Caribbean. While soaring in the skies and surrounded by red roses and balloons, he read a poem that ended with him asking Harlow to be his wife.
Paige Hurd and Royce O’Neale
Power Book II: Ghost actress Paige Hurd promised “I do” back in February, when she got engaged to Phoenix Suns basketball player Royce O’Neale. The couple officially announced the engagement in early March 2025. O’Neale proposed while the two were on a romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He popped the question to a surprised Hurd during an intimate oceanfront dinner date. And while she’s low-key about it, her rock is proudly on display.
Zendaya and Tom Holland

And then there’s Zendaya. She and fellow actor Tom Holland haven’t uttered a word about their pending nuptials, but the Challengers star said all she needed to say by showing up at the 2025 Golden Globes with a 5.02-carat east-west cushion-cut diamond on her ring finger. The couple’s family confirmed afterward that the two had gotten engaged over the 2024 holidays.
With this symphony of Black love playing out on the grandest stage and the inventive ways stars are letting us know they’re in it for the long haul, we can’t wait to see who and how the next round of crazy-in-love couples decide to share their happy news with the world in 2026—we’re looking at you, Teyana Taylor and Aaron Pierre.
