Why Tramell Tillman Is Our Man of the Hour

Tramell Tillman was counting his blessings right before the Thanksgiving holiday, sharing in an Instagram post on November 21: “What a year…” And that momentum will continue into 2026, with more awards, nominations, and accolades than his on-screen Seth Milchick ego could have ever dreamed of receiving in his Confidential Employee Assessment File.

In September, The Severance star won this year’s Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work as Severed Floor manager on the mind-tripping Apple TV+ series, becoming the first Black man to receive the honor.

Earlier this year, Tillman was recognized at the Critics’ Choice Association LGBTQ+ Celebration of Cinema and Television with the Supporting Performance Award-Drama, perfect for his mantel. And it better be a pretty long one. Tillman has also made Out Magazine’s 2024 Out100 List and earned a spot on the Associated Press’ Breakthrough Entertainers of 2025, to name a few. He’s going into the 2026 award season strong with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.

Of course, EBONY has been singing Tillman’s praises since the summer. Leaning into what makes the actor so engaging on screen, from showcasing strength to grappling with distress, he told us, “Growing up, Black men and boys weren’t allowed to cry or show emotion, whether it be in the professional setting or the home.”

The actor added, “It is important to show that Black men feel, and it’s not a knock against anyone’s masculinity or anyone’s manhood — but that you have an emotion, whether it be joy or whether it be sadness.”

For Tillman, the beauty is that “we’re starting to have the conversations or continue the conversations around vulnerability and emotional availability.”

Forget the mantel. With the year this Mission: Impossible -The Final Reckoning star has had — and how he’s heading into in 2026 — he’s going to need floor-to-ceiling built-ins.
