‘Strung’ and the Best TV Shows to Watch This June On Peacock, Starz, BET and More

We’ve been waiting for things to heat up, and the TV and streaming shows coming to our screens are making sure the temperature is dialed in. From Strung, the erotic thriller starring Chloe Bailey and the incomparable Lynn Whitfield, which made its world debut at the 30th annual American Black Film Festival in May, to the about-to-be meme-making moments from the upcoming season of Love Island USA, this month’s slate is serving it up spicy. Make sure you’re dialed in on June 28 for the live broadcast of the BET Awards, hosted by Druski, the first content creator to serve as emcee. Love Island USA (Season 8 Premiere) — June 2, Peacock: Returning to Fiji for another summer of romance, drama, and unexpected twists, Love Island USA, season 8, is already swirling in controversy — and we haven’t even seen the first episode! This season welcomes in a whole new crop of impossibly sculpted Islanders, but the fanbase has spoken: the one serving face is Trinity Tatum from Newport News, Virginia.

2026 NBA Finals (Game 1) — June 3, ABC: The 2026 NBA Finals tip off with the historic New York Knicks representing the Eastern Conference after a dominant playoff run. With the championship on the line, Game 1 marks the beginning of basketball’s biggest stage where one team takes the first step toward a trophy they haven’t claimed since 1999.

Cape Fear (Series Premiere) — June 5, Apple TV: CCH Pounder stars in this modern reimagining of the classic psychological thriller. Max Cady, released from prison, sets his sights on the attorneys he blames for his fate, unleashing a terrifying campaign that threatens to destroy an entire family.

The Vampire Lestat (Series Premiere) — June 7, AMC/AMC+: With a new name, The Vampire Lestat shifts the spotlight to the charismatic and dangerously sexy Lestat de Lioncourt, who’s now… a rock star? But we’ll still get a hefty fill of Jacob Anderson, who returns to the series formerly known as The Interview with Vampire as Louis.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards (Live) — June 7, CBS/Paramount+: Broadway’s biggest night returns live from New York City, celebrating the best performances, productions, and creative achievements of the 2025–26 theater season. The ceremony will feature star-studded appearances, live musical performances from nominated shows, and the presentation of Broadway’s highest honors.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan (Season 5 Premiere) — June 12, Starz: The final chapter of Power Book III: Raising Kanan begins. For four seasons, we’ve watched Kanan Stark transform from innocent teen into the ruthless drug king fans first met in Power. And this season revolves around his biggest confrontation yet: the one with his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas, who nurtured Kanan into the man he’s become.

The Bear (Season 5 Premiere) — June 25, FX/Hulu: The acclaimed culinary drama is serving up its fifth and final season. With Carmy’s shocking departure, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie, and Natalie navigate financial uncertainty and their pursuit of a coveted Michelin star in the most chaotic restaurant in Chicago.

Life, Larry & the Pursuit of Unhappiness (Series Premiere) — June 26, HBO: Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, partnered to produce this seven-episode sketch comedy series starring Larry David. Expect his signature brand of awkwardness, pettiness, and social satire as they revisit iconic moments of American history.

Strung — June 26, Peacock: From director Malcolm D. Lee comes a psychological thriller starring Chloe Bailey as a gifted violinist who accepts a prestigious position tutoring the daughter of a wealthy and enigmatic family. What begins as a dream opportunity soon spirals into a nightmare as dark secrets emerge, forcing her to question her safety and sanity. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Lynn Whitfield, Coco Jones, Anna Diop, and Lucien Laviscount, this is one of the summer’s most anticipated thrillers.  

BET Awards 2026 (Live) — June 28, BET: Celebrating the biggest achievements in music, television, film, and culture, the BET Awards return for another unforgettable night honoring Black excellence. And the time will be turnt up with first-time host Druski, who has already promised it will be like nothing we’ve ever seen. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles.
