‘Sinners’ Wins Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award at 83rd Annual Golden Globes

Sinners took home another impressive statue for the 2026 awards season. The film scored the third-ever Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, held at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The category recognizes a film’s massive box-office success; Sinners grossed nearly $400 million worldwide. “We didn’t know that they would show up, so we just want to say thank you that they did,” Coogler said as the cast and creatives stood on stage to accept the award. “It meant the world to us.”

The three-year-old category also celebrates a film’s critical impact. Since its release (and rereleases) in theaters, Sinners has become a definitive touchstone of Black history, allegory, and culture. Sinners composer Ludwig Göransson also won Best Score for the film.

The night’s other big winner, EBONY Power 100 honoree Teyana Taylor, proved that 20 minutes of screen time can make a lasting impression. Her portrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another, across 1200 seconds of screen time earned the actress the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, her first Golden Globe honor.

“Oh my God, I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I would get this,” Taylor confessed, and then added, “Oh my babies! My babies are upstairs watching — y’all better be off those damn phones and watching me right now.”

Taylor also gave love to every little Black and brown girl who dreams of one day following in her footsteps. “Watching tonight, our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”
