No one would fault Michael B. Jordan for taking a well-deserved break right about now. The Sinners star got his workout on this past award season, taking stage after stage to accept awards for his dual role as Smoke and Stack in the film, including the 98th Academy Award for Best Actor. But he’s staying booked and busy. The trailer for his latest film, Swapped, dropped last week.
Sitting criss-cross applesauce with his young niece and nephew, Jordan says they’re there to introduce the first look at his latest film. He plays Ollie, a small “Pookoo” creature who swaps bodies with a Javan bird after stumbling on a magical spell. Together, they’ll learn that people with differences can actually work together for the greater good. Swapped arrives on Netflix May 1.
People online have gone wild over the Academy Award winner banner over Jordan’s name in the trailer, with adult fans exclaiming in the comments they’ll watch the film “just for MBJ.”
Keep that enthusiasm going. This Academy Award Winner has got a whole slate of projects in development that will make their way to the screen in late 2026 or 2027. Here’s the list that just keeps on growing.
The Thomas Crown Affair: It’s a new cultural twist on a billionaire who gets his kicks planning high-stakes heists. And Jordan isn’t just starring in the reboot, he’s directing it.
The Greatest: Jordan is fully behind the camera on Amazon’s Muhammad Ali series, slated to air on the network in 2027.
Fourth Wing: Make that producer credit do double duty. Jordan is also helming the production side of this TV series adaptation through his production company, Outlier Society. Based on a fantasy novel, the story centers around a young woman forced into a brutal war college to become a dragon rider.
I Am Legend 2: Will Smith confirming that he’ll be working alongside Michael B. Jordan in an I Am Legend sequel. brought smiles to our faces. The sequel will follow an alternative ending where Smith’s character, Robert Neville, survives, as seen in the released DVD/Blu-ray version of the 2007 film
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: While it’s still in development purgatory, Jordan has signed on in the lead role of John Clark (who he also played in the 2021 action flick Without Remorse). Clark heads up the counter-terrorist organization Rainbow. After several terrorist attacks, the team discovers a conspiracy that could bring the world into apocalyptic tragedy.
Miami Vice: It’s still just a rumor, but Jordan and Austin Butler may partner to bring the beloved eighties procedural drama to a new millennium. Nothing wrong with seeing Academy Award “winner” and “nominee” on that marquee.
