Love Island USA, season 8, is coming in hot, and the forecast is that this season will be one of the wildest and most diverse yet.
Last season will prove hard to beat. We watched as season 7 islanders dealt with unexpected love triangles, the removal of cast members for past racist behavior, candid discussions over colorism and the mean girl perception that permeated the experience for Black female contestants.
Anticipating the vitriol that comes from the outside world descending upon the contestants via social media, and in some cases, their personal lives IRL, Peacock released a statement via Instagram earlier this week: “The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community,” read a post via Instagram. “We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected,” it read, adding “This is a space for fun, not negativity – so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!”
But greatness always rises from the ashes, and for season seven, it came in the form of Olandria Carthen, the “Bama Barbie” who won over audiences and became the It girl for red carpets and brand launches.
While Love Island USA is categorized as a reality dating show competition, the format has proven lucrative for islanders who make a real connection with the audience — the viewers at home who are watching, rooting for and judging them online in real time.
For some, it can be the launch of a whole new career. Season 7’s Chellie Bissainthe is executive producing and starring in the upcoming UPROXX TV series Love, Songs. Fellow cast members Jeremiah Brown and Chris Seeley continued their reality series experience on Love Island: Beyond the Villa. Olandria was crowned the People’s Choice Award for the 2025 EBONY Power 100, and her success has allowed her to purchase her first home.
And in a crossover that proves breakup revenge never looked sweeter, Summer House’s Ciara Miller is hosting Aftersun with Tefi Pessoa, starting June 13.
Whether this new crop of contestants will experience the same success is yet to be seen. But if history proves anything, the more time you spend in the villa, the more engaging life can be once you leave the fishbowl.
Here are six islanders to watch. Love Island USA, Season 8, premieres June 2 on Peacock.
