Jasmine Crockett Breaks Her Silence After Election Results at MPowered Maverick Celebration

Honored at the MPowered Maverick Celebration, a gathering recognizing the power and beauty of Black women, Representative Jasmine Crockett took her time on stage to address the riveted crowd about her recent election outcome.

“I want you to know, because I have not been out publicly very much since the election, I’ve been collecting my thoughts. I want you to know that I trust God infinitely,” she said candidly.

Crockett lost the 2026 Texas Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate to James Talarico earlier this month. It was a single‑digit margin loss, according to several reports.

“I am very clear that one thing that we learned for sure on election day is that they would have to spend almost 40 million dollars to take me down, more than has ever been spent in the Democratic primary in the history of the state of Texas. That they would have to engage in voter suppression,” she stated to a supportive crowd.

“But the one thing that I know is that Black people saw through every single racist thing that took place. And so I’m just grateful. I’m here to just say thank you, because so many of you who have never met me cover me in your prayers, so many who have never met me sent me your dollars. I just want you to know that it’s always been real and it will always be real for me. God bless you all.”

Hosted by mega-producer Mona Scott-Young, the lavish afternoon, held at the Sofitel Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California, celebrated Women’s History Month with an intimate gathering of women across entertainment, leadership, and culture, including Crockett, who admitted that recognition can be a two-edged sword.

“I am so humbled and so thankful and so grateful, this is the only time that it feels like I’m an imposter,” said Crockett, who stunned in a short, structured white dress.

“Because literally being a Black educated woman who shows up every single day as herself, doing her job should never be something that is rewarded.”

Crockett continued, “This country is lost. And so, in this country, being lost, we have a lot of people who have somehow become heroes who, honestly, if life were just halfway normal, would just be normal people.”

The event went on to recognize the woman of the hour, the “Maverick of All Mavericks” and Vanguard recipient, Suzanne DePasse. While working for Motown Records, DePasse helped catapult the Jackson 5 family to superstardom.

DePasse, who has been a visionary producer, executive, and trailblazer for more than six decades, also had words for those who were talking during her speech.

She noted that what they were talking about might seem more interesting than what she was saying, but that she may not be around longer to impart these words of wisdom.

In her other choice words, shut the f-up.

Actress and director Gabourey Sidibe was also rewarded with her MPowered flowers.

Guests in the room enjoyed specialty cocktails, flower arrangements and well-deserved hand and foot massages from Manly Handz, a male-owned and operated mobile spa company.
