Is your favorite love song one that’s easy to recognize? Chelley Bissainthe wants to find out. EBONY can exclusively reveal that the content creator and reality TV alum is set to host the original series Love, Songs, for UPROXX TV.
“ I feel honored,” Bissainthe exclaimed to EBONY. “I’m just really excited because I get to create and be a part of something that feels real.”
The TV personality and model participated in UPROXX’s Sound Check series Last October, an experience that she called “fun and interactive.” It gave her the opportunity to “share more of who I am through music.” After expressing how comfortable she felt at the taping, conversations with UPROXX staff continued, leading to the development of Love, Songs, which Bissainthe co-created, executive-produces, and hosts.
In each episode, a guest secretly selects one iconic music video that represents their current “love era.” Through conversation, Bissainthe will attempt to decode the guest’s choice before both host and guest reveal their answers simultaneously.
“ I love digging in and getting to know who someone is beyond the surface level,” Bissainthe shared. “The fact that we’re getting to use music to make that happen, it just makes sense. Especially as much as I love music and as much as I love connecting with people, it’s like two birds and one stone.”
Most known for her time on the buzzy, record-breaking eighth season of Peacock’s hit series Love Island USA, Bissainthe has racked up a string of partnerships, speaking engagements, and hosting gigs since her reality TV stint last summer, most notably serving as a correspondent for Billboard.
The entire post-show era has been an adjustment for the 28-year-old, but she told EBONY that she’s “finally adjusting to her new normal,” and that sense of imposter syndrome dissipates with each passing day.
“ That’s something that I was letting go of, especially coming out of the villa. I’m here for a reason like this; this wasn’t just by chance,” she asserted. “ I’m learning, I’m growing, and this is only just like the beginning of everything. I’m so grateful that I got to really embrace and understand each moment.”
Love, Songs will be at the center of UPROXX’s new programming directive, which is leaning into “super creator” culture. Bissainthe’s casting represents the next generation of multi-hyphenate talent voices that can connect culture, conversation, and community in a way audiences immediately respond to, according to a statement.
“What makes her especially powerful is how naturally she fits alongside the artists and creators already driving UPROXX — bringing a new dimension to a slate built around the scale and energy of modern fandoms.”
Love, Songs will premiere across UPROXX TV’s platforms this summer.
