‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Wendy Osefo Speaks Out on Arrest

The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo has finally addressed the world about her recent legal woes. She and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested in their home in Finksburg, Maryland, on October 9 after being indicted on fraud charges.

The reality star took to Instagram with a glamorous shot of herself and wrote, “And through it all, GOD remains faithful. Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for myself and most importantly my family during this time. We are forever grateful.”

The announcement came on the heels of the announcement of Osefo’s resignation from her Distinguished Visiting Professor position at Wesleyan University.

The couple’s legal troubles began after they allegedly falsely reported that nearly $200,000 of property was stolen from their Maryland home while they vacationed in Jamaica back in April 2024. They then filed an insurance claim for nearly half a million.

An investigation ensued over the next 16 months, which included officials finding $20,000 worth of items the couple claimed had been stolen being returned to the stores from which they had been purchased. Osefo was also reportedly photographed wearing a piece of jewelry that the couple had claimed as stolen.

After the arrest, the Osefos each posted $50,000 bail and were released from custody. The RHOP star faces 16 charges related to making false and misleading information, fraud, and making false statements to an officer. Her husband, Eddie, faces 18 charges for the same crimes. They are due back in court on November 7.

RHOP co-star Keiarna Stewart, who’s had beef with Osefo, stated on the October 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live, “I was shocked… and I was also a little bit disappointed.” She added, “Thoughts and prayers for Wendy at this time…it’s sad.”

The Osefos aren’t the only RHOP stars who have dealt with legal issues this year. Karen Huger, who was sentenced to two years in prison with one year suspended for a DUI conviction, was released on September 2, after serving six months behind bars.

Former castmate Candiace Dillard Bassett, who shared that she was “shocked and heartbroken” over the Osefos arrest, noted, “It just feels like someone is out to get the girls.”

Ever the team player, Osefo ended her post by encouraging fans to keep watching her series. “Tune into @bravotv tonight for a new episode of #RHOP,” she wrote. And boy, did they make sure it was good viewing: Osefo’s confrontation with Stewart over “TV” and “real” friendships, a Preakness party competition, and enough chin-checking for everyone!
