It’s official: Colman Domingo is the voice behind the cowardly lion in Wicked: For Good, the second installment of the musical movie version. The news dropped on the “Wicked” Instagram account on October 20, with the Oscar, Tony and Emmy-nominated performer popping out from behind a bunch of stuffed lion plushies to announce, “See you in Oz!”
Even though the films are a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, we know that the cowardly lion met Dorothy, the scarecrow and the Tin Man on their way to Oz. Could Domingo’s announcement mean we’ll see those characters fleshed out in Wicked: For Good? If Domingo’s lion slipped in a “Put up yer dukes” from The Wizard of Oz, or a “I just might knock you down,” from The Wiz, we wouldn’t be mad at it.

Clarke returns as the talking bear who was Elphaba’s childhood nanny in Wicked: Part I. Wicked: for Good premieres on November 21.
