Chadwick Boseman Set to Receive Posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Actor Chadwick Boseman will be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20, 2025. Ryan Coogler, the director of Boseman’s most significant film, Black Panther, and Viola Davis, the co-star of his final movie, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, are set to speak at the ceremony. Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the award on his behalf.

Boseman died after a four-year battle with colon cancer at 43 years old. Although he never spoke publicly about his diagnosis, he worked through his treatment for much of his career. “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

He joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the African superhero Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. This film marked the debut of the character T’Challa. Boseman played a significant role in bringing the character to prominence, starring in Black Panther, which received several Academy Award nominations, including Marvel’s first-ever nomination for Best Picture.

“I knew that he was in a better place, but I selfishly wanted him to still be here … with us, with me,” Letitia Wright told EBONY in 2022. “But for myself, I use the film as a love letter to Chad. Every scene, every word I utter is with fullness and with life as he would want me to live it, you know, as he did live.”

As we approach the ceremony date, it’s a moment for fans and peers alike to commemorate Boseman’s legacy. It offers fans an opportunity to reflect on the enduring influence of his work and the inspiration he brought to the screen. Boseman’s talent, strength, and dedication to his craft will forever resonate, reminding us of the legacy of an extraordinary artist who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Boseman with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at a ceremony on November 20th at 11:30 am PT.
