The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has crowned Harlem’s very own A$AP Rocky as its 2025 Fashion Icon, solidifying what the culture has known for years: he’s not just wearing the clothes, he’s shaping the conversation and letting men from urban communities know that they can wear whatever they want, no matter where they’re from.
Announced today in New York, the honor will be presented at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, sponsored by Amazon Fashion, on November 3 at the American Museum of Natural History. The recognition marks another milestone for the rapper, actor and entrepreneur whose influence on style has long transcended the music industry. Think of it as the Met Gala’s younger sister. A night of fashion, fashion and more fashion.
Rocky’s fashion résumé reads like a masterclass in creative direction. He’s currently the creative director for both Ray-Ban and Puma, but his reach stretches far beyond that. From starring in campaigns for Bottega Veneta, Moncler, Calvin Klein, Gucci, and Dior to helming his own creative agency AWGE, Rocky has redefined what it means to build a brand around personal style. AWGE’s collaborations span Marine Serre, Amina Muaddi, Selfridges, JW Anderson, and the late MTV, and its runway presence at Paris Men’s Fashion Week has cemented Rocky’s standing as both muse and maker.
This year, Rocky even brought AWGE to the Met Gala red carpet, wearing a custom suit of his own design as a 2025 co-chair. It was a fitting full-circle moment for a man who has blurred the lines between streetwear and couture since his Fashion Killa days.
“Rocky is a fashion icon in the purest form,” said CFDA chairman Thom Browne. “His truly original approach to fashion inspires me and so many to think differently.”
The 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards will also feature support from Google Shopping, M·A·C Cosmetics and Krug, but the night already belongs to Flacko.
