From the moment Zendaya stepped out in Paris for Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter presentation, she’s been turning heads with her bridal inspired looks. Now that she’s shifting into promotion of the final season of Euphoria, “Mrs. Holland” continues staking her claim as one of the best dressed women in Hollywood.
For The Drama‘s red carpet appearances, it’s been widely reported that Zendaya and her longtime stylist, image architect Law Roach, took inspo from the age old wedding proverb: something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
In Roach’s “Styled by Law Breakdown” video series on YouTube, he shared that he and Zendaya’s fashion synergy is centered around “big picture, small details.” He said that while he normally visualizes out of this world concepts, she provides notes that are a bit more down to earth. However, for this collaboration, their creative roles were reversed. “This time she had the big idea and then it was left up to me for the small details.”
Fans of the award-winning stylist, who was idolized with his very own Saturday Night Live skit last weekend, know that anything he touches will never be seen as small.
In bringing to life something old, Roach pulled from his archive the Vivienne Westwood dress Zendaya wore with faux locks to the 2015 Oscars and for something new he brought “the drama” with a large chiffon black bow on a custom Louis Vuitton column dress. Two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett was personally asked to wear her Armani Privé black gown, with something borrowed and something blue taken directly from Schiaparelli’s couture collection runway.
What’s next from this dynamic style duo? While it’s not confirmed Zendaya will attend next month’s Met Gala, she’s been a consistent guest who ranks high on the event’s best dressed list. After that, the actress and producer has said she’ll take a break and “disappear for a little bit.” That moment might not last too long with two summer films — The Odyssey (July 17) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31) — on the horizon. Whatever she wears it will be sure to outshine the sun.
