Going through a public breakup is never easy. Pushing through it under a literal spotlight? That calls for another level of resilience. But Megan Thee Stallion rose to the occasion.
The artist took to the Broadway stage for her nightly performance on April 25, just hours after posting a pointed message on social media reportedly about NBA star Klay Thompson, whom she has dated since 2025.
In a black-and-white message posted to her Instagram stories, Megan wrote, “Cheating, had me around whole family playing house… got cold feet.”
She went on to say, “Now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’ … I need a real break after this one.”
Megan is currently appearing in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and as they say in show business, the curtain had to go up, no matter what. While she could have let an understudy go on, she hit the stage like a trooper and delivered one of her best performances yet.
At the end of the production, the audience leaped to their feet in a thunderous, standing ovation. Megan couldn’t hold back her emotions as she gingerly wiped the tears from her eyes, while fans shouted “We love you” from the orchestra and mezzanine.
“She didn’t cancel, she stayed strong and didn’t let her personal life or ex take that moment away from her,” one fan noted on social. Added another: “A standing ovation, our girl is loved.”
Rumblings of a Megan and Thompson pairing surfaced in early 2025, with speculation gaining traction after they were spotted together at a series of high-profile events. The couple hard-launched their relationship last July at her first Pete and Thomas Foundation gala.
For a minute, it felt like the ex-couple was heading toward something serious, especially after Megan posted about preparing Thanksgiving dinner for Thompson and his family. But a Hot Girl Coach always knows when to walk away from someone else’s bad behavior.
Megan is still scheduled to perform through the musical’s final Broadway run, which wraps May 17. She’s keeping her eyes on the prize and not letting heartbreak stop her momentum. And she’s getting ovations for standing strong.
