And just like that, Fashion Month is officially in full swing, with New York giving us a strong start to the season. From Coach’s droopy suiting and party hats for its 85th anniversary to 7 For All Mankind’s “Gossip Girl”-coded runway and Sergio Hudson’s continued command of color and structure, there has been plenty of sartorial inspiration to capture our attention and, eventually, our wallets. But look a little closer and some of Spring 2027’s most interesting ideas are happening in hair, makeup, skin and nails.
Every season, designers enlist some of beauty’s biggest names to help bring their runway worlds to life, and this season was no exception. At NYFW mainstay Christian Siriano, TRESemmé partner and celebrity hairstylist Lacy Redway created fairytale and folklore-inspired crimped styles that proved the early aughts still have a hold on beauty. Meanwhile, Monse made the case for putting skin first, using Vaseline’s new Cherry Aura collection to prep models before they walked the runway at the former Domino Sugar Refinery.
Elsewhere, designers embraced beauty that felt a little less precious. Messy, lived-in hair took over Diane von Furstenberg’s Meatpacking District runway, while Tibi made brown feel decidedly right for spring with bronzed cheeks and eyes. Across the week, the message was becoming clear: Spring 2027 beauty is less concerned with perfection and more interested in texture, warmth and personality.
Ahead, discover the New York Fashion Week beauty trends already on our radar for Spring 2027, plus the products you can shop now to get ahead of them.
Bedhead
Khaite, Diotima and Diane Von Furstenberg

This just in: you don’t have to do your hair next spring (well at least, not really). Khaite and Diane Von Furstenberg showed models’ embracing frizz shamelessly, creating a beautiful contrast with such sophisticated looks. Meanwhile, hairstylist Joey George created the “tidal knot,” inspired by the work of South African photographer Ernest Cole, for Diotima’s fluid runway.
Retro Nostalgia
Christian Siriano, Kim Shui and Proenza Schouler

To no surprise, nostalgia is a key beauty theme for another year in a row. Christian Siriano and Kim Shui favored vintage hairstyles, with crimped hair and structural knotted buns, respectively. Proenza Schouler incorporated styles from various eras on its runway, namely, the slick-back wet look that first reached the fashion mainstream in the 1960s.

Skin First
Ulla Johnson, Prabal Gurung and Monse

For all the beauty minimalists out there, this trend’s for you. Ulla Johnson, Prabal Gurung, and Monse all emphasized the power of skin-first makeup, having prepped their muses with products from Banu, Borghese, and Vaseline (including their new Cherry Aura collection) respectively. Glass skin for spring 2027, loading.
Blushing
Sergio Hudson, Rio and Cult Gaia
In case you didn’t know, loud blush is still in. Sergio Hudson’s monochrome pieces were effortlessly elevated by extreme blush; the same for Rio and Cult Gaia. These moments served as a subtle, yet powerful ode to Painted by Esther’s blush movement. Whether you’re a fan of the makeup artist, or have been looking for a sign to experiment with your makeup, this is it.

Nude Nails
Wiederhoeft, Christian Cowan and Tommy Hilfiger

When in doubt, go with nude nails—at least Wiederhoeft, Christian Cowan, and Tommy Hilfiger say so. Though these brands vary in aesthetics (romantic, classic Americana, and sophistication), they all stuck to the basics for their models’ manicures. Neutral almond press-ons were seen left and right, while Hilfiger went completely bare with models’ nails only buffed with JINsoon products for a clean finish.
Brown Is the New Black
Altuzarra, Tibi and Grace Ling

While spring may be the season for pastels, the runways show that brown isn’t to be left out of the conversation. Tibi and Grace Ling showcased brown blush and eyeshadow respectively, while Altuzarra put the beauty of brown mascara on full display.
