Druski is ready to shake things up as he steps into one of the biggest roles of his career. Recognized for his viral, highly exaggerated skits and occasionally controversial parodies, the comedian is preparing to push the envelope as host of the 2026 BET Awards.
“They’re going to know I tore the roof off this thing,” he told EBONY ahead of the awards ceremony. “It’s going to be a lot of laughs, excitement, and an overall wild show. I want to bring that culture back to BET. And that’s what we’re going to do.”
As the youngest host in BET Awards show history, the 31-year-old is ready to inject a fresh dose of youthful energy into the ceremony. Known for pushing the boundaries with his humor, he’s unafraid to raise the bar – and maybe even a few eyebrows – when he takes center stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 28. Druski is prepared to bring the chaotic, unpredictable energy that fans have come to know and love from start to finish.
“We’re just going to be straight up and real,” he said. “That’s what my fan base loves me for. And that’s what the world has adapted to in this time. This new generation kind of wants that energy of being real and a bit edgy. How funny you see me on social media, you’re going to get that the night of the BET Awards.”
Druski’s career ascent represents a new era for the comedian and the awards show. Not only is he the youngest to take the mic, but he’s also the first content creator to helm the ceremony. With moments like this, he hopes this opportunity signals to Hollywood the impact of investing in younger creatives and content creators.
“This is big, not just for me,” he explained. “It’s big for a lot of the other content creators, the comedians coming from social media in the new age of the streaming world. It shows that we can open this door. I hope this door opens also for others to follow in my footsteps and do great things like this as well.”
It’s clear that he’s unfazed by the pressure to deliver. In fact, he’s embracing the excitement of the opportunity. “A lot of paparazzi have been outside my hotel,” he laughed. “That’s been going on more than usual. Doing things like this shows how much of a superstar I’m becoming. I’m excited and humbled to say that I’m the host of this year.”
With nearly 13 million followers, Druski became a household name long before Hollywood knocked on his door. With popular content series like Coulda Been Records and skits like Mega Pastor Churches Love Money, he knows what he brings to the table.
“We’ve been getting ready and having rehearsals,” he shared. “We have a full-blown writers team right now with all the BET writers mixed with some of my writers. This full team coming together has been insane. This show is gonna be amazing.”
While he remained tight-lipped about how much of his unique stamp he’ll incorporate into the show, one thing is for sure: he plans to stay true to himself and write his own rules.
“We have some sketches that are very funny and push the boundary,” he shared. “That’s what people want to see. I was reading tweets from my fans, and they know how crazy I can get. I’m excited for that. That’s what the fans want, and that’s what they’re gonna get.”
Hosting the 2026 BET Awards is more than another gig for Druski. It’s a reminder of how far he’s come. “I grew up watching BET Awards,” he shared. “It means a lot to me, my team, family and friends that I grew up with the BET Awards.”
He continued, “They’re super excited because they know what this means and how many times we’ve gathered around the TV to watch the BET Awards in previous years. They know how big a moment this is and how excited they are, which gives me more fuel to be motivated to accomplish this.”
Just as Druski promised to do things his way as this year’s host, he’s also applying that mindset to his career on a larger scale. The comedian is set to star alongside Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone and Chris Pine in Universal’s newest baseball romantic comedy, The Catch. According to Deadline, Druski will play Stone’s security guard.
This wouldn’t be Druski’s first time in a motion picture, as he also appeared in Praise This and House Party. As he continues to build his empire, he wants to add more acting to the mix.
“These are the opportunities where you have to bring it,” he said. “I’ve shown the world already through my sketches and with my ‘Could Have Been’ shows. But now it’s time to show it on a broader scale with movies.”
As Druski continues to reach new career heights, he’s not surprised that betting on himself has yielded big results. “I’ve been chasing greatness, and greatness is what I will become,” he shared. “I know this is that time for me. I know this is my era. I know I’m a superstar. This is what it’s going to be.”
The 2026 BET Awards air live from the Peacock Theater on June 28, at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and CBS.
