Mopreme Shakur has spoken out on the conviction of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the murder of Tupac Shakur, Mopreme’s little brother. The two became family when Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, married Mopreme’s father, Mutulu Shakur, when Tupac was just 4 years old.
“Justice is subjective. I feel there’s been some accountability, but justice is me getting my brother back. This is murder; this is death,” he declared on The Latest with Loren LoRosa podcast on October 15. Noting that there “ain’t no coming back” from death, he added, “there’s only so much justice I’m gonna get, but accountability, I’ll take it.”
Tupac Shakur was gunned down in 1996. For 30 years, no one was held accountable. On October 13, 2026, Duane “Keffe D” Davis was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for orchestrating the drive-by murder that took the “California Love” artist’s life.
Mopreme and his sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, made victim impact statements during the trial, which Mopreme admits created some anxiety for him and his sibling. “The impact is unimaginable; it’s everlasting ever since we lost Pac,” he revealed. “Pac just got a death sentence… it impacted all the Pac fans; he truly loved his fans.”

Mopreme said he was proud of his sister, who spoke emotionally about the devastating impact of the loss of her older brother Tupac. She and Mopreme helped unveil Tupac’s star during his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony in Hollywood, California, in 2023.
Mopreme is continuing to document his brother’s life and passing with a new film. “I am working on a documentary with Passion Pictures. The spine of the film is the trial, but it’s really about justice—what is justice for the fam, for me, the fans, what is justice 30 years later… that’s happening.”
Mopreme knows the work isn’t over when it comes to honoring his brother. “It’s a 30-year-old unsolved mystery…. We know the when [and] where, but the why, how? Those questions, we need answers to them too. That’s the next part of the journey.”
