It’s not just music that’s having a ten-year renaissance. The Real Housewives of Potomac is serving up an OG cast roster and a new cast member, and EBONY is bringing you the first gallery pics of the stars of season 11.
Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Karen Huger and Robyn Dixon, who were part of the series debut and helped define the franchise when it first premiered in January 2016, are back in the mix for the upcoming season.
Bryant and Darby have held steady as cast members over the past ten, weathering cast shake-ups, friendship breakups and enough reunion couches to leave an indent. Huger was largely absent from this past season due to serving jail time following a DWI conviction, making her full return one of the upcoming season’s most anticipated storylines.
Dixon, who exited after Season 8, is back as a Friend of the Housewives, putting her and her fellow Green-Eyed Bandit Bryant back in the same orbit after two seasons apart.
And yes, a new Housewife is joining the fray. Courtney Ajinça is an internationally acclaimed celebrity event designer, television personality, entrepreneur and minister. Rising to national fame as an event planner for high-profile clientele across sports and entertainment, Ajinça guest-starred on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, appeared on Married to Medicine and starred on VH1’s My Celebrity Dream Wedding.
Her husband is first-round draft pick and former NBA star Alexis Ajinça, who played in Charlotte, New Orleans, Dallas, Toronto, and France. His post-playing career as a Washington Wizards assistant coach led the family to the DMV, where the couple is raising their two sons, Carter and Caysen.
Joining the OGs and new cast member Ajinça are returning Housewives Dr. Wendy Osefo, back amid her ongoing legal troubles, Stacey Rusch and Tia Glover. Monique Samuels rejoins the franchise as a Friend, adding another familiar face to a season that is primed to be steeped in Potomac history and lore.
Bravo seems to be answering a much-discussed request from the series’ fanbase by reinvesting in what made it work in the first place. While Dixon’s return was not teased during season ten’s finale or its reunion shows, a Reddit thread discussed participants in an NBC survey who were asked their thoughts on her return this past spring.
We’re in an era where people can’t seem to get enough of a decade past, whether it be listening to Beyoncé’s Lemonade on Spotify on repeat or watching TikTok clips of Insecure, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. Nostalgia carries an emotional charge, and long-time RHOP fans are eager to see genuine decade-long connections play out. Having invested history in the housewives, their friends and families, and their businesses, successful and flawed, is much more satisfying than watching a whole new group of housewives who could be gone in a season or two.
So get ready for another round of marriages, betrayals, lawsuits, alliances, grudges and group chats that feel much more genuine, because over the last decade, that’s exactly what they’ve become.
