Exclusive: Biden-Harris Campaign Adds Keisha Lance Bottoms as Senior Advisor for 2024 Election

In preparation for the 2024 Presidential election, the Biden-Harris campaign welcomed its newest Senior Advisor, Keisha Lance Bottoms.

“We often say that each election is the most important election of our lifetime,” Bottoms said exclusively to EBONY. “This one absolutely is. We spent four years tormented by the policies and erratic behavior of Donald Trump and another four years of promised retribution to his political enemies is just the tip of the iceberg of the chaos that he will once again bring to America.”

As DNC Vice Chair and former Mayor of Atlanta, Bottoms has a storied career in politics and has long been trusted as a Senior Advisor of Public Engagement to President Biden.

“From the moment President Biden stepped foot in the White House four years ago, he put people over politics, delivering historic progress,” Bottoms said. “From millions of new jobs created, to billions forgiven in student loan debt, directly working to close the racial wealth gap, the Biden-Harris administration has put the communities that are far too often left behind, at the forefront.

A significant chapter in Bottoms’ career is her time as the Atlanta Mayor, guiding the city through the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder in 2020. As a leading figure in Atlantan culture and in the grander scheme of American politics, she will help strengthen the ties between the Black community and the Biden-Harris campaign.

“After Donald Trump left our economy shattered, I had the privilege of working alongside President Biden and Vice President Harris as they fought to rebuild this economy and ensure every single person in this country has access to the  American dream,” Bottoms said. “All of that is now at stake.”

Reflecting on the progress made over Biden’s presidential tenure, Bottoms emphasized the urgency of the upcoming election, warning that all the achievements could be undone.

“Trump has vowed to be a dictator on day one and will surely roll back all of the progress the Biden-Harris administration has made. We can’t let that happen, and I’m excited to be in this fight to ensure President Biden and Vice President Harris are elected to four more years in the White House.”

Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon echoed these sentiments about Bottoms joining the campaign at this crucial time. “From the very beginning, as one of the first elected officials to endorse Joe Biden during the summer in 2019, Mayor Bottoms has been a valuable and trusted advisor to the President. She led both the city of Atlanta and the White House Office of Public Engagement with strength and has the accomplishments to show for it. We couldn’t be more excited that she will be joining the campaign and utilizing her expertise to direct efforts across key departments.”
