Just when you thought this summer was fresh out of surprises, we got gifted by Beyoncé yesterday morning. The “Morning Dew (Donk)” Remix Pack is a four-song EP that not only features an acoustic version of the track; there’s more! We also received a “Donk Mix” version, which has a bit faster tempo than the original track.
But the most newsworthy addition to this pack is JAŸ-Z. Hova shows up with his first new verse since 2022 in this official remix of “Morning Dew.” The title track, widely believed to have been cut during the self-titled era of Beyoncé albums, has had ladies feeling a way all summer long.
The remix really brings a throwback feel, starting with the beat from Check Wes’ “Mo Bamba.” With that, it tips the hat to an era where remixes were not defined merely by a new featured verse, but by a whole new energy by way of a new beat.
Luckily, the newly added sonics didn’t stop there. When JAŸ-Z’s verse begins, the beat eventually flows into the Isley Brothers’ “Between The Sheets.” Soulja Boy’s “Donk” drums and hook even make an apropos appearance on the track. It really conveys what remixes are meant to be. With the excitement that this remix is bringing, naturally we can begin to think, are the Carters hinting at more?
Let’s not forget, this release is happening freshly on the heels of JAŸ-Z and Beyoncé reuniting on stage during night one of Jay’s three-night sold-out residency at New York City’s Yankee Stadium. With the artist now taking his “JAŸ-Z30” Reasonable Doubt Tour to Los Angeles and Europe in the coming months, it sure seems like he’s gearing up for more performances in the future.

The last time JAŸ-Z went on tour prior to this year was 2018, and his wife was last on tour a year ago. One could surmise that Jay is gearing up for another joint tour next summer, as 4:44 will be turning 10 years old. JAŸ-Z’s current tour could also be helping him get back into the rhythm of touring so he can push through for something more demanding on the horizon. It also shouldn’t be lost on us that a tour may not be the only thing that is being cooked up during this moment. With this new JAŸ-Z verse, many are believing a new album is in the works as well.
The Carters are known for keeping such details so close to the vest. But one could imagine that Jay wouldn’t just get in the studio to lay down only one track. Those creative wheels may very well be in motion, and by next summer, we could be looking at a tour that’s celebrating new music with both parties working in tandem.
