The late Chadwick Boseman received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week, where Viola Davis, Ryan Coogler and more delivered tearful, heartfelt speeches about his talent gone too soon and his legacy. The most poignant picture from the ceremony is that of his black shoes, which his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, brought to the occasion as a personal tribute and symbol of many of his life moments. From it, Boseman has received an outpouring of love and gratitude on his Instagram page for the short time he spent on this earth.
“Love you always and in all ways,” wrote actress Susan Kelechi Watson, who dedicated the movie Between the World and Me to the late actor back in 2020, the year Boseman passed. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, part of the New York Public Library system where Boseman was once employed, noted, “From 2002 to 2009, Chadwick Boseman worked as an acting instructor with our Junior Scholars Program, a free Saturday academic program for middle and high school students. His wisdom, grace and spirit inspired the students he taught, and our staff will forever treasure his friendship. You are always remembered.”
